Hi, I am Lance Corporal (LCP) Tan Eng Kiat, Nasser, currently serving my National Service as a Driver with the Corporate Services Hub (East) at HQ SCDF. My journey with precision drills began in 2016, when I was part of the National Cadet Corps, and I have been passionate about it ever since. In 2023, I had the honour of representing Singapore as a member of The Street Elite, a U.S. based Precision Drills club, at the World Drill Championships in the United States.
Surprisingly, many participants from other countries were unaware that Singapore has a precision drill community. Through our shared passion, I have formed meaningful connections with international counterparts by training together and exchanging techniques on various drills.

One unforgettable moment at the World Drill Championships in the United States was when I dropped my rifle during the final round of the solo category. Despite the setback, my teammates and the spectators cheered for me, encouraging me to pick up my rifle and continue. This heartwarming show of support has stayed with me and motivated me to continue practising precision drills.

This year, I also participated in the National Day Parade as part of SCDF’s marching contingent. The discipline I learnt from precision drills helped me execute my foot drills with accuracy and sharpness during the parade.
Precision drill is more than just a skill; it is both an art and a sport. I hope more people will appreciate it. Find out why on SCDF’s Facebook and Instagram.
