A crew of friends are attempting to raise thousands of pounds for charity, and achieve Guinness World Record" status, for the longest continuous trip in a fire engine - a record never before attempted.

On October 22, the fire engine and crew will arrive in Singapore, as part of an awe-inspiring global expedition, which set off from London, England on July 18, 2010.

On making it to Singapore, have already passed through 22 countries, successfully navigating Northern Europe, the vastness of Russia, deserts of Kazakhstan, dirt tracks of Mongolia, and the great expanse of China.

The challenge - Follow That Fire Engine " is attempting to circumnavigate the globe and raise money for three charities - Macmillan Cancer Support, The Fire Fighters Charity and The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

"The expedition has not been without incident," explained Steve Moore, Follow That Fire Engine"s expedition leader. "We suffered a damaged fuel tank in Switzerland, had to provide emergency medical assistance at a serious road traffic accident at the Russian / Lavian border, and the crew are suffering from crippling back pain and sleep deprivation as a result of extremely poor road conditions. Despite this though, the crew remain immensely positive about the challenge, and we"re determined to complete the feat. We've already raised over 70,000 for three amazing charities " and the thought of building on that is what keeps us going!"

Follow That Fire Engine is dedicated to the memory of Steve"s father, Garth Moore, who passed away on 18th July 2009 at the age of 63, after a brave battle with lung cancer.

Garth was a Fire Fighter and dedicated his life to fighting fires and saving the lives of others, over the course of his 33 years in service.

After departing Singapore, the fire engine will continue its journey through Australia, New Zealand, North America, Mexico, Northern Africa, and Europe, before completing its record breaking mission, 28,000 miles later, back in London during April 2011.

100% of money raised will go to three charities supported. Shipping, fuel and living expenses will all be funded by the crewmembers.
