Change of Command Parade for Commissioner SCDF

Assistant Commissioner Eric Yap Wee Teck was appointed as Commissioner SCDF on 1 February 2012. A Change of Command Parade was held today, Thursday, 2 February 2012, at 7.30 pm at the National Service Training Institute. The event was officiated by Mr Tan Tee How, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.

The parade was attended by some 600 guests, comprising MHA senior directors, senior officers from Home Team departments, Operationally Ready NSmen, partners from private corporations, grassroots leaders, members from the National Fire and Civil Emergency Preparedness Council (NFEC), Civil Defence Auxiliary Unit (CDAU) and National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC).

Speaking at the parade, Commissioner Eric Yap said, "I am heartened to note our officers and units remain determined, committed and steadfast in carrying out our roles and functions as professionally as we have always been. The quest to protect and save lives and property is a continuing journey. I am confident that the resilience we have built as an organization and the strong ties we have forged with our partners and the community will enable us to face the challenges ahead. As Commissioner of SCDF, I look forward to working with all of you. Your continued support is vital to SCDF. "
