Change of Command at 4th SCDF Division

Lieutenant-Colonel (LTC) Michael Chua Szu Chiap has been appointed as Commander 4th SCDF Division with effect from 4th January 2016. A symbolic Change of Command Parade was held yesterday at 6:30 pm at the 4th SCDF Division HQ. The parade was officiated by COMR Eric Yap, Commissioner SCDF.

The parade witnessed the symbolic handing over of the command mace from Colonel (COL) Ling Young Ern to LTC Michael Chua. This was followed by LTC Michael Chua taking the Oath of Command in front of approximately 250 guests comprising SCDF officers, Home Team Officers, grassroots and community leaders, NS commanders and Civil Defence Auxiliary Unit (CDAU) members.

LTC Michael Chua became an SCDF Officer in 2002. After holding various key staff and operational appointments in SCDF and the Ministry of Home Affairs, LTC Michael Chua was awarded a Full-Time Postgraduate Programme sponsorship to do his Masters in Fire Investigation at the University of Central Lancashire in 2012. Prior to his current appointment, LTC Michael Chua was an Assistant Director in SCDF"s Hazardous Materials Department and the Deputy Commander of 4th SCDF Division.

COL Ling Young Ern has been Commander 4th SCDF Division since 10 June 2013. He assumed the appointment of Director Operations Department on 4th January 2016.
