- An HFAD provides early warning of a fire. It is mandatory for new residential premises and existing residential premises carrying out fire safety works to install HFADs.

Civil Defence Day Parade 2010

The CD Day Parade is an annual event for SCDF personnel to pledge and reaffirm their commitment to not only the SCDF but also the Life-Saving cause. The Guest-of-Honour for the parade is Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Law and 2nd Minister for Home Affairs.

Guests from the Inaugural International Elite Rescuers Exchange (IERE) Workshop were also invited to attend the CD Day Parade. The workshop was conducted from 13th to 15th September 2010 and its participants comprise international teams from Brunei Darussalam, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Macau SAR, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.

The workshop provided a platform for elite rescue teams to share its expertise/experiences and allow others to gain insights into its best practices. This included areas such as confined space rescue, construction site accidents / structural collapse, major transportation accidents, technological accidents, hazardous material releases, natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, typhoons, tornadoes or floods, as well as acts / threats of terrorism.
