Fire At Blk 34 Marine Crescent

This evening at 5.11p.m., the SCDF was alerted to a fire incident at a 4th floor unit (#04-47) at Blk 34, Marine Crescent. One fire engine, one Red Rhino, one support appliance and one ambulance from Marine Parade Fire Post (located at Blk 15 Marine Terrace) and Paya Lebar Fire Station were immediately despatched to the incident location.

SCDF personnel arrived at scene in two minutes and found the unit well alight. The door and the gate to the unit were locked and SCDF personnel gained access using forcible entry tools. Donning breathing apparatus sets, SCDF personnel penetrated the unit with two 38mm water jets and conducted simultaneous fire fighting and search operations. One female Chinese, in her 50s, was found unconscious in the kitchen of the unit.

SCDF paramedics found that the Chinese lady had no pulse and no breathing and conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) immediately. CPR by the paramedics was continued while conveying the casualty to Changi General Hospital. The victim was pronounced dead soon after arrival at the hospital. The fire was extinguished in ten minutes and was confined to the bedroom.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
