Fire at 800 Upper Bukit Timah Road
SCDF was alerted to a case of fire at No. 800 Upper Bukit Timah Road at 8.53pm on 12 November 2012. 3 Fire Engines, 4 Red Rhinos, 6 Supporting Vehicles and 2 ambulances were immediately dispatched to the incident site. Upon the arrival of SCDF resources, the fire had fully engulfed three quarter of the contents inside the single storey warehouse. The warehouse was approximately the size of a football field. The contents of the fire were pallets of wood, stacks of metal and food products. At the height of the fire, SCDF deployed 7 water jets to contain the fire. The fire was brought under control within two hours. Key challenges faced by SCDF firefighters were as follows: Some items were vertically stacked on metal racks about the height of 6 meters. SCDF firefighters had to ascend to the affected areas to conduct firefighting operations. The warehouse was heavily smoke-logged. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The damage was confined within the single storey warehouse. One firefighter was conveyed to National University Hospital due to heat exhaustion. SCDF personnel engaging in fire-fighting operations.
