Fire at Tyre Factory at Blk 3 Toa Payoh Industrial Park
27 August 2006

This evening at about 7.53p.m., the SCDF was alerted to a fire incident at one of the units in Blk 3, Toa Payoh Industrial Park. Two fire bikes, two fire engines, three Red Rhinos, five support appliances and about 30 SCDF personnel were immediately despatched to the incident location.

SCDF personnel arrived at the scene within six minutes and found that the fire had fully engulfed the two-storey factory which stores large quantities of tyres. The SCDF personnel conducted forcible entry to the premises. Donning breathing apparatus sets, the personnel penetrated the unit with water jets from two 64mm hoses, two 38mm hoses and one ground monitor, staging a two-prong attack from the front and back of the unit.

The fire was brought under control within 40 minutes. There were no casualties in this incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
