Launch of ITE-CD Lionhearters Club (College Central Chapter)

The launch of the CD Lionhearters Club was held this morning at ITE College Central. The Guest-of-Honour for the event was Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee, Chairman, Home Team Volunteers Network.

44 students from ITE College Central will form the fifth batch of CD Lionhearters. Prior to the launch, these students have helped out at the Emergency Preparedness (EP) Days held at Block 507, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 and Hougang Neighbourhood Park 6, Hougang Street 61 on 26th May 2012 and 24th June 2012 respectively. During these EP Days, the ITE-CD Lionhearters assisted the residents and occupants to evacuate the premises during a fire scenario drill. In addition, the CD Lionhearters also assisted to train the public in basic fire-fighting, first aid and CPR techniques.

The first batch of CD Lionhearters from Singapore Polytechnic was appointed in October 2009. The CD Lionhearters Club comprises tertiary students trained in emergency preparedness and life saving skills. The role of CD Lionhearters is to provide assistance during on-campus incidents, to provide humanitarian assistance during overseas missions as well as to train the community in life saving skills.
