Release of chemical fumes at the filtration room of Wavehouse at Siloso Beach

At 1018hrs, SCDF received a call alerting us of the release of chemical fumes at the filtration room of Wavehouse at Siloso Beach. Upon receiving the notification, SCDF resources including 2 Fire Engines, 1 Hazmat Mitigation Vehicle, 1 ambulance, with approximately 20 personnel were immediately dispatched to the Siloso Beach " Filtration Room of Wavehouse.

SCDF arrived at location within 11 minutes. To prevent further release of fumes, localized within the Filtration Room, SCDF promptly commenced mitigation operation to seal the 200 litres barrel which the fumes were emitting from.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was caused when the worker accidentally mixed the wrong chemical content into the barrel during refilling.
