SCDF's two new Mini Light Fire Attack Vehicle will be operational from 1 August 2009 - Public invited to propose a name for new vehicle -
01 August 2009

The SCDF"s latest in-house innovative fire fighting vehicle, the Mini Light Fire Attack Vehicle (LFAV) will be operational from 1 August 2009. With its compact design, the vehicle is able to negotiate tight spaces and traffic congestions and respond more effectively in the highly urbanised set up of Singapore.

The Mini LFAV will complement the existing fleet of SCDF Fire Fighting Appliances and needs to be operated by just two Fire and Rescue Specialists. It will be deployed as the first response vehicle for small residential fires involving rubbish chutes and discarded items.

The Mini LFAV has the following features :

Dimensions : 387 cm (L) x 170 cm (W) x 172 cm (H)
Speed limit : 150 km/h
Capacity : 1000 litres per minute at 5-7 bar pressure
Equipment : Water Mist Gun, Hoses, Breathing Apparatus Sets
and Forcible Entry Tools

The Mini LFAV will be deployed at Alexandra Fire Station and Sengkang Fire Station from 1 August 2009.

To involve the public in the launch of the vehicle, the SCDF and the National Fire and Civil Emergency Preparedness Council (NFEC) are jointly organizing a contest for the public to name the vehicle. Participants stand a chance to win the top prize of $1000 cash voucher. We are also giving away 9 consolation prizes of $200 cash voucher each. The contest will run from 1 to 31 August 2009. To participate in the contest, members of the public can log in to our website at http://www.scdf.gov.sg.
