SCDF Operation Lionheart 55-Member Contingent Deployed to Christchurch, New Zealand : Update No 6

The 55-member SCDF Ops Lionheart contingent has carried out search and rescue operations at 30 sites since their arrival in Christchurch, New Zealand. To facilitate continuous operations, smaller rescue sections, were assigned to different sectors within each site.

All rescuers gathered at the CTV Building for a two minute silence for the earthquake victims at 1251 hrs (New Zealand Time) on 1st March 2011, exactly one week after the 6.3 magnitude quake hit Christchurch. Team Leaders gathered at the Christchurch Cathedral for the ceremony. Contingent Commander, LTC Ling Kok Yong and DART Commander, LTC Alvin Tan represented SCDF at the cathedral.
