SCDF Team Returns from Fire-fighting Operations in Indonesia

Thesix-man SCDFDisaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART),deployed to assist in fire-fighting operations inIndonesia,returned to Singapore atabout 3:30pm today, together with the SAF personnel deployed as part of Singapore"s offer of assistance to Indonesia. They were received atPaya LebarAir Base by SCDF Commissioner, Eric Yap.

The SCDF DART teamhadbeen deployed to Indonesia for 2 weeks, since10 October2015.During their deployment,theteamoperateda5000-litreheli-bucket for aerial fire-fightingoperations with the assistanceof an RSAF Chinook helicopter.The teamoperated underchallengingconditions,with thick smoke and poorvisibility.This deployment has validated the SCDF"s operational readiness and preparedness. The experience gained will be invaluable foranyfutureoperations.
