- An HFAD provides early warning of a fire. It is mandatory for new residential premises and existing residential premises carrying out fire safety works to install HFADs.

Forest fires in Chiang Mai, Thailand, 2015

In early 2015, northern Thailand was shrouded in haze due to forest fires in the region. In response, SCDF deployed six DART officers under Operation Lionheart.

The team, led by DART Unit Sergeant Major SWO Sabri Bin Dusuki, comprised SSG Muhammad Himmi Bin Ibrahim, SGT Budi Gunawan Bin Zolpakar, SSG Lim Zi Yang, Ivan, SSG Muhammad Bukhary Bin Abu Bakar, SSG Fendilato Bin Mohamad Tahir.

The team operated a 5,000 litre Heli-bucket, which combats fires by dispensing water from beneath a helicopter. The SAF also mobilised 50 officers, supported by two RSAF Chinook helicopters for the mission.
