Forest Fires, Palembang, Indonesia, 2015

In October 2015, dry weather conditions resulted in forest fires in Sumatra, Indonesia. As the number of hotspots grew, much of the region was shrouded in haze.

On 10 October 2015, six DART officers were deployed under Operation Lionheart. The SAF also deployed 34 officers, supported by an RSAF Chinook helicopter to assist with firefighting efforts.

Despite the low visibility and dense haze, the officers flew numerous sorties, dousing more than 50 hotspots in Palembang. The Operation Lionheart team returned to Singapore on 24 October 2015.
