In-Place Protection (IPP)

This is a public protection measure that was introduced in 2003, a publicity cum public education drive on its introduction was carried out to secure speedy public acceptance. Amongst these measures are:

  • "Soft-selling" of the IPP Concept through the Community Exercises and Events
  • Intensive media publicity blitz through radio, television and print mediums
  • Incorporation of the IPP into Tier 3 of the Community Emergency Preparedness Programme and in the latest edition of the CD Emergency Handbook.

The IPP measures had also been extended beyond the residential areas to cover the Industrial and Commercial buildings through a series of workshops and briefings which were complemented by the conduct of inter-agencies emergency exercises.
