Two decades ago, SCDF published In Safe Hands to chronicle its formative years from 1989 to 2000. This commemorative book continues that journey, capturing SCDF’s transformation since the early 2000s.
Since 2000, the SCDF has gradually built its emergency response capabilities through innovation and the adoption of advanced technologies. Notably, the introduction of the Light Fire Attack Vehicle and the deployment of unmanned firefighting machines have redefined SCDF’s emergency response strategy. SCDF’s emergency medical services (EMS) have also evolved. Today, EMS resources are optimised by leveraging data science and ambulances are deployed to where they are needed most.
Beyond building operational capabilities, SCDF has proactively involved the community in emergency preparedness. Apart from equipping the community with lifesaving skills, SCDF also connects with them through the myResponder mobile application, empowering the community to protect and save lives and property. These collective efforts have integrated emergency preparedness into daily life, building “A Nation of Lifesavers” for a safe and secure Singapore.

This book was written to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the SCDF Marine Division. Over the past decade, the Marine Division has been keeping Singapore waters safe by responding swiftly and effectively to emergencies at sea. This book showcases the journey of SCDF's Marine Division, covering the history, development, capabilities, and achievements from its humble beginnings in 2012 to a world-class marine firefighting unit. Through the book, the reader will also be able to see how SCDF officers, especially the pioneers, persevered and overcame their challenges to become the accomplished Mariners that they are today. Though we have achieved much over this decade, our future looks exciting as we work towards even greater excellence.

This book chronicles 50 years of National Service (NS) in the Home Team (HT), and its evolution to become the modern fighting force that the Singapore Police Force and SCDF are today. The book features interesting stories from different generations of HT NS officers, from the 1960s to the present. The uniforms, training doctrine, and equipment have evolved over the years, but one thing remains constant - our NS officers can be counted on to do their best when duty calls.
The CD Ready Homes Programme, a collaboration involving SCDF, National Fire and Emergency Preparedness Council (NFEC) and People's Association (PA), aims to encourage residents to take ownership and learn Civil Defence skills. Through a self-validation checklist, residents are encouraged to assess their household's level of emergency preparedness. This initiative would also help to strengthen family bonding and promote neighbourliness.
The checklist, in 4 different languages, is available for collection at fire stations, fire posts, HQ Civil Defence (CD) Divisions and Emergency Preparedness (EP) Days.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) recognises that strategic partnerships with our suppliers are critical to achieving our goal of delivering life-saving emergency services to the public. The SCDF Supplier Handbook is an initiative by us to orientate all our valued suppliers on the process of doing business with us and to promote good corporate relations with the supplier community. Specially prepared for all our valued suppliers, this Handbook provides important information and tips on doing business with the SCDF. We trust that our valued suppliers will find it useful in their dealings with us and hope to make every experience of doing business with the SCDF a pleasant and delightful one.

The Civil Defence Emergency Handbook (CDEH) is one of the primary means through which the SCDF reaches out to all segments of the population. It aims to equip our readers with essential life-saving skills in times of emergency.
The 9th edition of the CDEH incorporates developments that were implemented in recent years such as the Save-A-Life Initiative, which aims to make AEDs more accessible to the public and the myResponder app (fire module). It also includes information on SGSecure, a national movement to enable our community to prevent and deal with terrorism.
In addition, the latest CDEH includes tips on how to perform “hands-only CPR” without mouth-to-mouth ventilation. When performed early, “hands-only CPR” has been found to be as effective in increasing a victim’s chance of survival as conventional CPR.
Other key updates include fire evacuation procedures and fire safety tips on the use of Active Mobility Devices.
SCDF has set out a list of 15 Quality Service Indicators. Through these indicators, SCDF hopes to promote transparency and realistic expectations of our service standards to the public.
