At 1706 hrs, SCDF was alerted to a fire at No.1, Pearl Bank, Pearl Bank Apartment, 19th Floor Unit (Two-Storey Maisonette Unit) and immediately dispatched 2 Fire Engines, 1 Red Rhino, 2 Fire Bikes, 1 Support Vehicle, 1 Ambulance to the scene.

Upon SCDF"s arrival, thick black smoke was seen issuing from the unit. SCDF personnel with breathing apparatus equipment immediately conducted forcible entry into the unit from the 20th floor. Fire involved the living room area on the upper level of the maisonette unit. The fire was confined to the living room area and extinguished within 20 minutes using one water jet.

SCDF also rescued five female subjects who were trapped in a bedroom. Only one casualty was conveyed by SCDF ambulance to the Singapore General Hospital (see details below).

Due to the smoke, as a precautionary measure, a total of 15 personnel from the neighboring units were also evacuated by SCDF and SPF.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
