Jurong Fire Station crew rescues woman from burning unit at Blk 210 Boon Lay Place

This morning at about 6.44am, the SCDF was activated to a fire on the 12th storey of Blk 210 Boon Lay Place . The SCDF Control Room immediately despatched 1 Fire Engine, 1 Red Rhino, 1 Combined Platform Ladder, 1 Ambulance and 2 supporting appliances which arrived at the scene within 3 minutes. Enroute to the incident, SCDF was notified by members of public that there was a person standing on a ledge outside the flat.

Upon SCDF's arrival, the bedroom unit that is fronting the common corridor was fully engulfed in flames. The 3-room HDB unit was locked and a 32 year old female Chinese was spotted standing precariously on a ledge outside the kitchen of the affected unit.

SCDF immediately set up a life-pack at the ground floor while another team conducted a forcible entry into the locked unit. One 38mm water jet was deployed to successfully confined and brought the raging fire under control within 15 minutes. A second 38mm water jet was set up simultaneously as a protective jet for personnel to enter the unit to rescue the female Chinese from the ledge. She was brought to safety by the Rota Commander and Section Commander from Jurong Fire Station. She did not suffer any visible injuries and was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital for observation.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
