One dead one injured at construction site accident
The SCDF were alerted to a case of persons injured at a construction site at 9 " 37 Balmoral Crescent, at 11.29 am. One fire engine, one ambulance and one Fast Response Paramedic were dispatched to the incident site.
On arrival at scene, one casualty was found trapped in a container office when the mast of the passenger hoist (weighing approximately 500kg) connected to a tower crane fell from approximately 8 storeys high. He was pronounced dead by SCDF Paramedics at the scene. The victim had suffered serious head injury. SCDF subsequently assisted to release the body of the victim with the assistance of a crane from the construction site.
Another casualty was found seated in the container office with his right forearm crushed by debris and two deep cuts on his head. He was immediately conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment.
There were a total of 2 casualties in this incident. One was pronounced dead at scene and the other was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital with serious head injury and crushed right forearm.
