SCDF's "995" number to be displayed on phones' caller ID
The SCDF Operations Centre manages all "995" emergency calls. The SCDF Operations Centre specialists, upon dispatching SCDF resources to an emergency, may contact a caller to get more information on the latest development to the emergency, or provide the caller with medical advisory for the patient.
With effect from 1st June 2017, the Singapore Civil Defence Force"s (SCDF) emergency hotline number "995" will be displayed on telephones" caller ID. This is an enhancement to the call taking feature of the SCDF"s Operations Centre.
Prior to this enhancement, mobile telephones and land-lines with caller ID would only display "Unknown Number", "Private Number" or "No Caller ID" when the SCDF Operations Centre attempts to contact the callers. Some callers may not respond to telephone calls when there is no recognisable number. As the number "995" is distinct to the SCDF, callers would more likely respond to such calls.
Users of SingTel, M1 and StarHub lines will be able to receive the "995" number displayed on their telephones" caller ID. Upon receiving a call from "995", members of public should immediately answer the call or return the call as soon as possible, if they missed it.
International numbers used in Singapore will not receive the "995" caller ID on their telephones. In addition, numbers beginning with the prefix "+995" and followed by other numbers, e.g. +995-xxx-xxxx, are not from the SCDF Operations Centre.
