More on the Competition

This year"s Competition features two main sections, namely the Local and International segments. The local segment is tailored for front-liners from each of SCDF"s four divisions. The team fielded by each Division will comprise Civil Defence Volunteers, Full-time SCDF National Servicemen (NSF), Operationally Ready National Servicemen (ORNS) as well as regular-service SCDF officers. There will be four challenges in store for the teams from the four SCDF Divisions. Titled "Holler", "The Choice is Yours", "Closed Circuit" and "Race to the End", competitors will not only have to be fast, but they must also perform the correct actions in the stipulated sequence in order to win the events.

In contrast to the local events, the emphasis in the International segment is placed on elements of teamwork rather than competition. There are four "composite teams" participating in this segment. Each team is made up of personnel from the seven participating international civil defence agencies. This "composite" team approach sets the scene for mutual exchanges of operational skills, techniques and tactics amongst the participants from the various international agencies. Similar to the local segment, there are four challenges catered for the teams. In order to emerge victorious in the challenges titled "Unbreakable", Vertical Challenge", "RTA" and "Enduro", these international participants must leverage on the synergy of the team that they have cultivated during the practice sessions days before the actual event.
