About Us

The Basic Rescue Training Centre (BRTC) was officially opened on 20th June 2006. Then Senior Minister of State (Law and Home Affairs) Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee graced the occasion with 150 guests comprising of parents, grassroot leaders, officers from the Home Team Departments and Singapore Civil Defence Force.

BRTC was later renamed to the National Service Training Institute (NSTI) on 1st April 2011 with the expansion of its roles and functions. Additional departments have also been added to further enhance the training, allow better co-ordination and more effective oversight on the training conducted.

With the reorganisation of the Civil Defence Academy (CDA) in 2020, NSTI was renamed as the National Service Training Centre (NSTC) and became one of the six Centres of Excellence in CDA.

NSTC aims to develop young men into fit and proficient rescuers, equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their duties efficiently and to ensure that our NSmen maintain the level of excellence.
