The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) signed a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) with both non-governmental organisations, Mercy Relief (MR) and Singapore Red Cross (SRC), on 8 May 2019 at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Mr Amrin Amin, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health, witnessed the MOI signing, which marked the renewal of SCDF’s existing partnership with MR and SRC.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) organised the Civil Defence (CD) Lionhearter Forum to highlight its partnership with the community of youthful volunteers on 8th May 2019. The CD Lionhearter Forum is a platform for volunteers from the CD Lionhearter Clubs, National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC), and Civil Defence Auxiliary unit (CDAU) to share their experiences, and to learn from the experiences of Community First Responders (CFRs) in responding to emergencies.

SCDF held its first Civil Defence (CD) Volunteer Gala Nite on 19 July 2019 to honour and acknowledge the contributions of CD volunteers and celebrate the 150th year of volunteerism in civil defence. The gala dinner was held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, where over 400 SCDF volunteers and Community First Responders (CFRs) attended this milestone event in SCDF’s history.

Jastine’s short film entitled, ‘My Homeland: A Photography Project by Grandpa Chen’ was awarded the Best Overall Film and the Movies Makers Award. Jastine is an active member of the SCDF’s Media Production Unit (MPU), Corporate Communications Department (CCD). Read More[With Video] 3 New Commissioned Vessels to Boost SCDF’s Marine Firefighting Capability
On 20 August 2019, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) commissioned three new marine firefighting vessels. The commissioning ceremony was witnessed by Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs & Minister for Law. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Shanmugam said the new vessels will further enhance SCDF’s marine firefighting capabilities. At the press briefing, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Derek Tan, Commander of the SCDF Marine Division, said that with the addition of the three new vessels, the SCDF Marine Division currently has a total of eight firefighting vessels in its fleet and also more could be added in the future.
